About Your Therapist
Hello, Butte! I’m Shauna Conard, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the beautiful state of Montana (License # MT BBH 39130). I’m grateful for the opportunity to offer a wide range of behavioral and mental health services, and I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself and share my excitement about serving this incredible community. It’s truly an honor to provide high-quality care to the place I proudly call home.
My Approach
Life can be challenging and messy, but I’m here to help you navigate your path to growth and healing. You are the expert in your own life, and I will meet you where you are, supporting you throughout your personal journey. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling safe, seen, and empowered. I believe in working collaboratively with clients and their families to achieve their goals, whether that’s developing coping skills, overcoming trauma, managing stress, or improving depression and anxiety, to name a few.
My Intention
Psychotherapy doesn’t have to be sterile, or unwelcoming which only adds to the stigma surrounding mental health diagnoses and treatment; clients should always feel welcome and accepted just as they are. At State of Mind Behavioral Health, our goal is to create an inviting space that fosters growth and change, while helping to destigmatize mental health care. It’s not something to be ashamed of, but a gift you give yourself. Therapy is a unique experience for everyone. No single approach or modality will work for everyone. I utilize an integrative approach, using techniques and interventions from a variety of different evidence-based treatment modalities in order to tailor the therapeutic experience to the needs and goals of each individual client.
I aim to build a strong therapeutic alliance to connect with clients in a client-centered, evidenced-based, and trauma-informed way. My purpose in becoming a therapist has always been to assist people in better understanding themselves, others, and the world we live in. I hope that this will lead to greater empowerment and resilience for my clients.
No matter what you’re facing—whether it’s building resilience, improving daily functioning, or reducing the symptoms of severe mental illness—there’s a place for you here.
Education
I’m a long-time Butte resident and graduated from high school in 2002. I earned a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Gonzaga University in 2006 and completed my MSW at Simmons College in 2017. My experience includes internships working with adults facing severe mental illness, as well as serving as a behavioral intervention specialist and therapist in a school-based program providing therapy to children with specific challenges. Upon licensure, I gained further experience in integrated behavioral health, supporting adults with a wide range of concerns at a local primary care facility.
